Professor McCollum has a large specialist practice in vascular surgery. He leads a research team of some 40 lecturers, fellows, scientists and technicians, and collaborates with various disciplines including particularly epidemiology, neuro-imaging, mental health and stroke medicine.
Special research interests include the following:
Abdominal aortic aneurysm
Arterial and venous thrombosis
Cerebral emboli in dementia and migraine
Stroke and cerebral perfusion
Shock, haemorrhage and organ damage.
Carotid and cerebral arteries
Venous disease
Paradoxical embolism
Wound healing and leg ulceration
Blood transfusion.
Professor McCollum provides expert reports across the range of arterial and venous disease, thrombosis and injury, including life expectancy. He has experience in Court in medical negligence, personal injury and in multi-party litigation. He is familiar with the Woolf reforms and complies with the new rules governing expert medical evidence.
Instructions accepted countrywide for desktop reports, and will also accept CC&P instructions from across the country, as long as the client is prepared to travel.
