Luke Meleagros was until 31st March 2023 a Consultant Surgeon at North Middlesex University Hospital. He has extensive experience as a medico-legal expert. On average, he completes 1 to 2 expert reports per week in Medical Negligence.
Instructed by Defendant solicitors on behalf of NHS Trusts, NHS Resolution and solicitors acting on behalf of surgeons in private practice. Also instructed by solicitors on behalf of Claimants in Medical Negligence. He has acted as Joint Expert in some Medical Negligence cases. He is also instructed by solicitors in personal injury cases for both the Claimant and the Defendant. He has appeared in court to give evidence as expert witness in 2002, 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018 and 2022 (twice), including seven appearances at the Royal Courts of Justice and twice at the Supreme Court of Bermuda.
Expert reports cover a wide range of cases of alleged negligence in General Surgery including:
laparoscopic cholecystectomy, laparoscopic and open inguinal and incisional hernia surgery, bowel injury at gynaecological laparoscopic procedures, laparoscopic colorectal surgery complications, appendicitis, acute abdomen, peritonitis, diverticulitis, intestinal fistula, colovaginal fistula, intestinal ischaemia, small and large bowel obstruction, colonic pseudo-obstruction, colonoscopic bowel injuries, complications of colorectal surgery, delays in colorectal cancer diagnosis, gastrointestinal perforation by ingested foreign bodies, postoperative deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism.

Luke Meleagros has taken part in many conferences with Counsel and in conferences of experts for the Defendant and Claimant.
He has also appeared and given evidence in Court. Regularly attends annual expert witness training conferences
