I have been a consultant obstetrician for 7 years. With experience of all forms of operative vaginal delivery (forceps, ventouse and assisted breech). My main area of interest are in High Risk Obstetrics, Maternal Medicine and Risk Management (especially Intrapartum Care).
I was Obstetric Lead at Liverpool Women’s Hospital for risk management and clinical governance from 2006 to 2011. I am fully conversant with the all aspects of general antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care, and the implementation of national guidance. I have specific training and extensive experience in the provision of antenatal care of women with medical disorders, especially diabetes and hypertensive conditions.
I have been responsible for reviewing the majority of the Trust’s Obstetric complaints and claims for litigation. This includes composing appropriate responses and clinical reports. On average I produce 12 to 15 such reports for the trust per year. I have received appropriate training in report writing and have a commitment to produce objective, balanced, well-presented reports fully in accordance with Part 35 of the Civil Procedure Rules and the practice direction supplementing Part 35.
I can produce reports on most aspects of Obstetrics, typical cases I have reported on include:
• Shoulder dystocia
• Caesarean section problems
• Cerebral palsy (obstetric aspects – the development of peri-partum hypoxic ischaemic encephalopathy)
• Stillbirth
• Forceps and vacuum delivery
• Problems after episiotomy / perineal tear complications

I have extensive experience in dealing with Serious Untoward Incident reporting and have been trained in Root Cause Analysis.
