Professor Dhavendra Kumar is a Consultant in Clinical Genetics at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff University, United Kingdom. He is the lead Clinical Geneticist for Clinical Cardiovascular Genetics. He is the Honorary Professor to the Genomic Policy Unit at the School of Health, Sport and Science, the University of South Wales UK. He is also the Adjunct Professor to the Public Health Genetics Unit at the Chinese Capital Medical University, Beijing, China.
During his long career in medical genetics, Professor Kumar has amassed experience in the areas of;

▪ Inherited bone and connective tissue diseases
▪ Genetic muscle and nerve diseases
▪ Inherited and Familial cancers
▪ Congenital anomalies and malformation syndromes
▪ Inherited metabolic disorders
▪ Rare/Orphan genetic diseases
Professor Kumar has experience in genetic assessment and reports in all medico-legal issues related to genetics & genomics including DNA identity- paternity dispute, immigration matters and forensic cases.
Professor Kumar is widely published and engaged in undergraduate (MB and BSc) and postgraduate teaching (MSc, MD & PhD).
In 1990 he became a Diplomate of the American Board of Medical Genetics, Fellow of the American College of Medical Genetics (FACMG), Fellow of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of Ireland & London, Fellow of the UK Royal College of Paediatrics & Child Health
