Details

Beginning his career in the 1980s as an offshore diver, Steve steadily progressed to hold senior onshore and offshore roles, including Offshore Manager, Diving Manager, Country Operations Manager, Diving Safety Authority and Diving Technical Authority. He has accumulated nearly four decades of experience working with major oil and gas operators, principal contractors and sub-contractors on large-scale, high-profile and technically complex projects across the globe. His expertise spans offshore, inshore and inland civil engineering, as well as the renewable and nuclear sectors. Steve is widely recognised for his extensive experience, depth of knowledge and specialist skill, developed through years of working in diverse, multi-cultural environments.

Over the last 20 years, he has also served as a diving and risk expert witness, regularly consulted and instructed in cases involving fatal accident, serious injury, asset damage and loss and personal injury. Committed to maintaining his professional integrity, Steve remains actively involved in the industry through ongoing work in accident and incident investigations, diving system and equipment audits, project reviews, hazard identification and risk assessments, risk analysis, project documentation and procedural reviews, and participation in formal comment and approval processes.

Although expert witness work is now his mainstay, Steve also delivers training and lectures, undertakes personnel competency evaluations, and continues to act—on an occasional basis—as a trusted diving safety and technical authority and consultant to leading civil engineering firms, oil and gas operators, and classification societies when approached or specifically requested.
