Mr Brian Porter is a former experienced professional Saturation Diver and is a Professional Air Diver with Commercial Offshore / Inshore diving with experience worldwide.
Expert experience covers commercial diving operations law and procedures. Risk assessments, surface conditions, and site evaluations, sea state, currents tides, underwater safety and operations at sea.
He was previously Managing Director at Dive School (UK), teaching PADI & NAUI scuba diving courses to students up to and including instructor training programmes. With experience of teaching the general public to scuba dive and as a diving Superintendent, based in Abu Dhabi. With total responsibility for Marine Vessels, its crew, dive team and associated equipment.
Experience also includes working as a North Sea saturation diver involved in operations in the Norwegian and British sectors of the North Sea; responsible for marine engineering & construction projects. Diving in both sectors as a mixed gas / saturation diver on major marine engineering & construction projects; working to depths of 500 feet.
Fraser Diving (Singapore), Air Diver Employed as an Air Diver Paramedic by Fraser Diving in the South China Sea and subcontracted to ‘SHELL Oil’ involved an underwater inspection programme of the oil platforms within the South China Seas oil fields, using non-destructive testing techniques, ultrasonic, magnetic particle and cathodic protection inspection.
McDermott International (Singapore), Air & Saturation Diver on board a pipe lay barge contracted to carry out non-destructive testing inspection and construction projects. He also assisted as a life support technician to the saturation diving team, including crane operations loading gas quads, securing and plumbing in gas feeds to saturation system.
Portsmouth Marine Civil Engineering, Manager & Diver Supervisor. Inspection and construction diving operations carried out within the inshore diving waterways i.e. rivers, docks etc. Construction diver and diving Superintendent – responsibilities for the dive team, dive planning safety, liaising with local authorities and the principal activity was marine engineering and construction projects.
Mr Porter has Expert Witness experience with; Marine accident investigation, Report Writing, Court Appearances, Single Joint Statements and Quantum issue relating to loss of earnings. With extensive knowledge of Industry Law, Standards, Rules & Procedures, Guidelines & Statistics. He is able to carry out expert detailed investigations and research, in order to deliver a comprehensive and articulate report that complies with Civil Procedure Rules.
