Dr Diane Turner is an analytical chemist and internationally recognised expert with extensive knowledge of Gas Chromatography (GC, GC+GC, GCxGC), Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS, GC-MS/MS, GC-QTOFMS), sample preparation techniques, Liquid Chromatography (HPLC, LC-MS) & Inductively-Couple Plasma (ICP-OES, ICP-MS).
Diane is the Founder, Director and Senior Consultant of Anthias Consulting Ltd. A Warwick University Graduate, Diane completed her Masters in analytical chemistry working on LC-MS and GC-MS. Diane started her career in environmental chemistry, later on gaining significant experience as an Applications Chemist. She completed her PhD on ‘The Development and Evaluation of Non-invasive Methods to Characterise the Disease States of Patients Utilising Selective Discrimination, Gas-Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry and Chemometrics’ at The Open University.
She is conscientious, motivated, organised & an excellent problem solver, able to put her expertise to solving analytical problems at home and abroad. A good communicator both written & verbal, experienced in giving presentations & training, proficient at working on her own initiative & as part of a team.

Expertise in techniques
Gas Chromatography: GC, GC-MS, GC-ToFMS, GC-QToFMS, GC-QQQMS, GCxGC-ToFMS/MS/FID/ECD, Liquid Chromatography: HPLC, LC-MS, ICP-OES, ICP-MS. Sample preparation techniques including headspace, purge & trap, thermal desorption, pyrolysis, Solid Phase Extraction (SPE), Solid Phase Micro-Extraction (SPME), Stir-Bar Sorptive Extraction (SBSE), membrane extraction, (Liquid Liquid Extraction) LLE & derivatisation.
Diane is widely published, she has developed methods for, given support to and created high quality training for companies and delegates both in industry and academia internationally for more than 20 years. She is also a visiting academic and consultant at The Open University.
A fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC); elected member then President of the Analytical Science Community (previously Analytical Division) of the RSC 2016-2023; member of the RSC Analytical Methods & Prizes Committees, Members Community Board & Science and Innovation Leadership Forum and chair of the Analytical Sciences Prize committee 2020-23; trustee then Chair of the Analytical Chemistry Trust Fund (ACTF) 2016-2023; member of the BEAM and Industry Advisory Boards of the Community for Analytical Measurement Science (CAMS); member of the Government Chemist Programme Expert Group (GC-PEG); and trustee of the Recycling Organisation for Research Opportunities (RORO).
