Dr Stuart Wilkinson is a Consultant Respiratory Paediatrician at RMCH. Also Clinical lead for LTV (long term ventilation), he was Clinical lead for Respiratory Paediatrics until Jan 2023.
Dr Wilkinson graduated from Leicester University in 2003 and trained in paediatrics and respiratory medicine throughout the north in Stoke-on-Trent, Liverpool (Alder Hey) and Sheffield Childrens hospital, before completing his sub-specialty respiratory paediatric training in Leicester.
He spent 2 years as a cystic fibrosis clinical fellow researching fungal disease in cystic fibrosis before taking a consultants post at RMCH in 2014. Since his appointment he has become lead clinician for the Long-Term Ventilation unit on ward 83, and currently expanding the overnight sleep assessment service at RMCH. Along with other members of the respiratory and multidisciplinary team Dr Wilkinson cares for the largest group of cystic fibrosis children in the UK, both as out-patients and in-patients, including out-reach clinics with our partners in district general hospitals in the North-West.
Dr Wilkinson commenced medicolegal work after 10 years of paediatric respiratory medicine at a consultant level and 16 years in total of paediatric respiratory working. Initial caseloads commenced in May 2024 and to date he has undertaken five separate cases for both claimant and defence work.
